Who so ever hears first time about watching tv channels on computer is normally going to think that satellite tv for pc is a scam, I do not blame them for how they come to think about it. Although live streaming, free-to-air is quite old concept still it comes as a surprise for someone who hears about it first time. Satellite Tv to PC Software is just a program that takes all these live streams and organizes them in such a way that a novice user can locate channels fom different countries.
For those who are aware of the technology of channels broadcasting will know that most of the channels that we see on our regular Dish Satellite or Cable are available for free via live streaming on the internet. 1. It is really not possible to have TV Channels running via Satellite Tv For PC software without paying any subscription fees or monthly fees?
In every country there are many tv channels which include news, geography, sports, kids, regional, religional etc these kind of channels do not charge anything from the viewers. As viewer base of such channels is huge compared to paid channels they get ample sponsors to keep them running. This software collects live streams of all such channels and organizes them based on country. Most of these channels are also broadcasted on the official website of the channel provider.
2. Is Satellite TV to PC Software illegal?
Absolutely not, if you visit the website of some of the broadcasters, you will be able to watch their TV programs right from their website itself. These tv channels broadcast at some broad wave frequency and also expose the same live stream on some IP/port. These live streams are then captured by your regular dish network service provider, cable network service provider along with the software providers for satellite tv on pc. It was around 7/8 years back that these software's were made public. Had these software's been illegal, the websites of the owners would have been shut down along with satellite providers like Dish etc as they also use some kind of software to capture all these software's.
3. General thinking is that Satellite TV for PC is a scam as you cannot watch tv channels on PC.
Hmm... around 10/12 years ago this would have made a news, but not anymore. Those were the days when you could hardly think for voip (voice over ip) leave alone watching video on computer. Nowadays internets are extremely faster and even teen aged are found watching youtube videos. Live streaming, video conferencing has been made possible with the invent of high speed internet connections.
4. Do you need a TV tuner card (PCTV cards) to watch tv channels using satellite TV for PC software?
These are totally two different things. Say you have a TV tuner card installed on your computer then you can unplug your cable wire from your TV and plug it right in your computer. This helps in watching all your cable channels on your computer. On the other hand if you use any kind of satellite tv for pc software's, then live streams / tv channels flow to your computer via internet connection rather than cable wire. So there is no extra hardware requirement if you use this software.
5. Had there been any upgrades to Satellite TV For Computer software?
Well, I first used it in 2006 and they released the software with mere 900 odd channels. Since then there have been numerous upgrades and nowadays you can watch almost 3500 worldwide channels. Whenever there is an upgrade all you have to do is install the latest version of the software and you are prompted with an alert about the new version automatically.
I used this mostly on my laptop to have the advantage of mobile tv, well on till when my mobile takes over the roll of tv also :) yeah we are not far away from the day when you could watch tv channels on your mobiles, ipads itself.
